A Message from Nigel

2024 Candidate for 28th Eastern Regional Director

On Saturday,  September 9th, I officially kicked off my campaign with an announcement to my home chapter: Chi Sigma Chapter in New Jersey, followed by a celebration sponsored by the chapter and our very own non-profit arm. There could only be one place to shoot this video, the campus where my journey in Sigma began……….

BROTHERHOODoverEVERYTHING

MEET BRO. NIGEL

Nigel was born and raised in East Orange, NJ where he matriculated through the public school system and graduated from Clifford Scott HS excelling both academically and athletically.  He decided to attend Seton Hall University because of its excellent business program.  He graduated with a bachelor’s of science in Accounting and Finance.  While pursuing his degree Nigel was faced with the challenge of working full-time to support himself and pay for his education while attending school on a full-time basis.  He used this challenge as an opportunity by procuring work experience that aided him in his ultimate career path.

It was during his undergraduate years that Nigel was initiated into Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. via the Xi Tau Chapter, Jersey City State College (Seton Hall at the time had no chapter) on Thursday April 28th, 1994.  Almost immediately he made chartering a chapter at Seton Hall his mission.  On April 15th 1996 that mission was realized with the chartering of the Alpha Nu Alpha Chapter.  Nigel’s dedication to forwarding Sigma didn’t stop there as he was instrumental as an undergraduate and young alumni brother in the reactivation of several chapters throughout Northern New Jersey: Bloomfield College (Lambda Chi), Farleigh Dickinson (Xi Omicron), NJIT (Xi Theta) and William Paterson (Nu Eta).

Professionally, Nigel has over 25 years of experience in consumer products manufacturing and supply chain operations- He currently is the Sr. Director of Manufacturing for Foodservice Operations for Massimo Zanetti Beverage- USA where he manages all day to day functions of a multi-million dollar highly automated coffee roasting facility who lauds among its customers Dunkin Donuts, Kraft Foods, Mars Drinks and Wawa.  Nigel also holds a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from Villanova University and is a licensed commercial and residential Realtor.

Last, but certainly not least among his greatest blessings are his wife & best friend of 20 years Soror Shenequa Coelho and their two children, Sigma Legacy Justin a recent graduate of Morgan State University, and 2+ year member of Gamma chapter in the Eastern Region and Brooke, junior at the University of Albany majoring in political science. (and Max, the family dog).  The family resides in Rahway and are members of the St. James AME church family in Newark.
